When I started this blog a year ago, I never intended for it to evolve into anything else. Something has been stirring in my heart lately. Thanks to my husband’s prompting and encouraging… I’ve been praying, reading, researching, and ultimately preparing to transform Blackberry & Honeysuckle into a small business.
What kind of business?
An online gift shop & custom gifting services. For the online gift shop, my goal is to have an assortment of gift boxes, that will be available to be shipped anywhere in the US. For the custom gifting service, this will serve customers in need of gifts for special occasions, such as corporate events, employee/client gifts, church events, weddings, and so on.
I have been redesigning the website (lots of trial and error for this not so techy person!), and working on lots of other behind the scenes logistics to get it ready. Starting a business isn’t a cake walk or glamorous by any means. If anything, it’s like the classic friends scene “pivot!”, ya know… the one with the couch. (Even if you’ve seen it a million times, go watch it here for a good laugh!)
Why gifting?
I’ll be the first to admit that when a birthday, graduation, or any other event pops up, I am quick to run to the store and pick up a gift card or gift, stuff it into a bag with some tissue paper and I’m done. Easy peasy lemon squeazy. However, if you give me some time and wiggle room to be creative, I’m all in. Gifting is something I love to do.
I’m passionate about gifting because I believe in lifting others up by encouraging them, reminding them they are recognized, appreciated, loved, thought of, you name it.
I believe that when you have an opportunity to give, you have an opportunity to create moments that will potentially spread joy and make a positive impact.
Looking back at one of my posts from last fall here, I noticed that I wrote about the joy of giving and was reminded that giving has always been on my heart. Isn’t it amazing how God uniquely designed us?
Throughout my life, God has done so many things to remind me of His love so I’m sure He thinks the act of giving is pretty important, too.
After all, He gave us the ULTIMATE GIFT. JESUS.
So this is me. Shaking in my boots, doing it scared. I know I’m going to make mistakes, but I’m setting my fear aside and taking a small step of faith. Trusting in Him. Praying he will use my hands to honor Him. Bring Him glory. In whatever way possible.
If you are reading this, you’re probably one of the 30 subscribers that started following me on this blog journey a year ago. I am so grateful for you. Thank you for sticking around.
As a small token of my appreciation, for the first 3 readers to leave a comment below I will send you a little Blackberry & Honeysuckle gift. (It’s one of the first products we will start carrying in our online shop!)
