One of my all time favorite movies… let’s see if you can name this one…
“What will NY152 say today?” I wonder.
I turn on my computer.
I wait impatiently as it connects.
I go online…
…and my breath catches in my chest until I hear three little words:
“You’ve got mail.”
I hear nothing, not even a sound on the streets of New York.
Just the beat of my own heart.
I have mail…
Yes, You’ve Got Mail!! Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) and Joe Fox, F-O-X (Tom Hanks). Ahhhhhh…. love it.
I can pretty much recite the whole movie. Although I’ve seen it a bazillion times, I cry every single time at the end when Brinkley comes running through the park…
“I wanted it to be you. I wanted it to be you so badly.” Cue the kleenex.
You must watch it if you’ve never seen it.
Her quaint bookstore, Shop Around the Corner, always made me feel so warm & cozy… the sense of community, small town (yes, even in New York City), and so on. I never thought much about it, but I always dreamed of having a place like that.
Well friends and family – I’m beyond excited to announce that our very own shop around the corner is coming soon!!!!!
We’ll be located in the charming historic downtown Navasota area. Truly honored to be a part of this community.
So grateful for God’s hand in working out the details and literally opening the door to make this a reality.
This past year, we have seen an unfortunate number of small businesses close their doors. On the surface, it appears to be an uncertain time to venture out and open a new shop. However, I’m giving it all to God, praying His continued had over this, and praying He receives all the glory.
Biggest thanks to my hubby for being my number one, my encourager, my supporter, and pushing me beyond my comfort zone to even do this in the first place. We took pics in front of the space back in August… I sneaked a pic of him, too!
A lot has changed and it’s looking beautiful inside! The original brick wall is my favorite piece of history in the shop. Be sure to follow us on instagram for sneak peeks as we continue to get the shop ready!
A while back, I picked up this keychain from Piney Rose, a local flower and decor shop in The Woodlands. I never actually put any keys on it, just kept it on my desk for the longest time.
God works in funny ways sometimes, doesn’t he?!
